We were making sure we had everything for my daughters school Halloween costume parade and I handed her the bags of candy I put together for 28 kids and then she says, “whats that for?”
Me: “Um HEllo?! School!”
“We don’t get to bring treats to school,” she says
Me: Why Not!
her: I don’t know they said nothing edible.
OK so Why isn’t the school doing treats this yr. This is the first year they started this. THe last few yrs they had parties and now this yr Nothing! Guess I’ll have to hand the bags out to treaters but why is the school changing the rules this year? I think its sad that they are not doing much in the way of holiday’s because of the mix in belief’s. So everyone gets NOTHING! Its just Sad.
For those of you who have children in school are they having a party with treats?
Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment. Have a GREAT day

Jujube wasn't allowed to dress up or bring candy. it was kinda sad. I loved wearing costumes for Halloween at school
As someone who doesn't celebrate Halloween I actually find it helpful that schools are starting to not celebrate this holiday. In the past I would have had to keep my kids at home for the parties, but now they don't have to stay stuck at home like they are doing something wrong. People who celebrate Halloween can do their own thing after school or on the actual day. I really don't see a reason to make a child feel like they are weird just because they don't celebrate a mainstream holiday. Kids get picked on enough without the schools giving more ammunition.
That's horrible! My kids did have parties on Wednesday {their last day because of conferences}, and I made cupcakes for my oldest's. I would be outraged if they cut the celebrations out. Kids {little ones at least} really look forward to these parties!
No costume parade. But parties with treats, yes. My daughter's school that DID have a costume parade (several years ago) had no sugary treats. They had like bagels with cream cheese and vegetables with dip and stuff.
Our kiddos have not been allowed to dress up for quite some time. Our school has what they call Harvest Days (rural town), I do believe that they are allowed to have candy though.
BTW, I noticed that you found your award. I hadn't gotten around to letting people know until today. Consider yourself notified. lol
That's how the school district is where my husband teaches too.
I bet they want to throw out Christmas celebrations, too. Wouldn't be fair if they let Halloween continue. The kids shouldn't be able to worship all that candy… Sheesh.
:~D
Maybe it is because of the flu?
