Numbering Comments in Blogger

Have you noticed? My comments are Numbered. I have been meaning to do this for a while now especially with running giveaways. It’s so hard to count unnumbered comments and I must count them over 4 or 5 x’s if not more to make sure that I’m getting the winner count right. So are you doing this too?

So now you want to know how to do it right? It was fairly easy a bit of copy and pasting and hunting but the best instructions I found were on The Mom Nerd. and there was a clue in the comments on that post to help me find what I needed.

If what she has in her (#4 on her list of things to do) first box of “what to look for” doesn’t show up in your comment section when you are searching look for this
dl class=’comments-block’ id=’comments-block’

This was what was in mine then just follow the same instructions she has posted.

All you need to do after completing her instructions to see your numbers is to click on the post title and look at your comments. I did it on my test blog first. I just didn’t want to take any chances on goofing something up but It all worked out ok. I left her a message and she instantly replied to me. It was pretty late too. She must be a night owl like me. Lol.

Head on over to get those comments numbered it will make your life so much EASIER if your doing giveaways.    

Edited on March 2010: Since switching to this template I attempted to number comments again. It took me some hunting this time and was able to find the info I need by studying screen shots at 1stfloorflatcomputery I was missing the 2nd code was given a few clues in her updates. Good luck
