Now that my baby making days are over the next step for me would have to be menopause. Nope not looking forward to that one. I’ve heard horror stories on what happens to women during that time in their life and I pray that will not be my case.
Did you know the transition to menopause can start in your early 40s? The sudden mental and physical changes could have my hubbby and children scratching their heads and wondering, “What’s up with you-know-who?” Oh, I dread that happening. Watching this video helped me be aware of the symptoms when they start.
I was given the opportunity to watch Dr. Tara Allmen, MD video “Menopause in an Hour” which is one of America’s most trusted authorities on menopause. If your looking and need answers for this life effecting time called “Menopause” your answers can be as easy as a button “PLAY” away.
Dr. Allmen explains what middle-aged women go through and what their spouses, partners, friends and family members can do to help minimize the effects in the new, two-part DVD series MENOPAUSE IN AN HOUR and WHAT’S UP WITH YOU-KNOW WHO? that’s entertaining and takes a lot less time than reading a medical book. For $20 – about the cost of a co-pay – those who don’t have health insurance with no access to specialists, as well as the women out there who are bombarded with information on the Internet, will have a reliable resource on-hand.
Dr. Allmen’s top recommendation for reducing the symptoms of menopause, share in regular exercise, is supported by the latest findings reported at the recent American Heart Association’s Epidemiology and Prevention Conference in San Francisco, where a physician’s longevity study revealed that being physically fit doubles the chance of living longer.
Also on the checklist to a happier, healthier midlife are Dr. Allmen’s prescriptions to “Living a Loving Lifestyle,” including:
1. Eat more: Consume more whole, unprocessed foods including whole grains, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables and lean protein.
2.Get moving: Weight-bearing exercise is a key component in preventing osteoporosis, in addition to aerobic exercise to maintain a healthy weight and reducing the risk of age-related illness.
3. Eat less: Cut back on processed and fried foods, sugary snacks and empty calories.
4. Dive into water: By making water your thirst quencher you can avoid the hidden calories in bottled drinks, and artificial sweeteners and caffeine that could contribute to insomnia.
5. Live, Love, Laugh: Studies show that a life filled with purpose, social connections and community support contributes greatly to overall health and vitality.
Getting help for Menopause symptoms with advice you can trust from a doctor will make it easier on you. Understanding your symptoms can be the key to getting the right treatment that is safe and effective and this may help reduce or even eliminate those annoying symptoms that we hate like HOT Flashes, night sweats, exhaustion, mood swings, weight changes and so much more….
Dr. Allman was even on Good morning America and just in case you missed it you catch her interview here. Just go down the list til you find it. Watch it! It’s a good one. She explains a little bit about what you need to know and your choices solutions and about this DVD.
My Thoughts on this video: At this time in my life I’m not thinking that it was time for me to watch. Truthfully I do have some of the symptoms describe but they are associated with other conditions that I currently have. It did offer some fabulous tips to help make the transition during that time easier Hubbys aunt is going through this transition as we speak and she said, “Finally! Answers to dealing with Menopause in the privacy of your own home. Everyone wants to tell you about your period no one wants to talk about Menopause.”
If your feeling like you maybe going through this time and hesitant to take it up with your doctor this video is for you. It will make the discuss so much easier as well as may already answer a few questions.
I found the Mens and children’s version to watch, “What’s up with you know who?” to be very entertaining and it even made me laugh. I actually preferred watching this video over the other maybe because there was a more playful approach to the subject. I think this one will help me take a more playful approach to helping Aunts, friends, family and even my self when it’s time for the transition to Menopause.
