Never a dull moment in the neighborhood We live in. We’ve lived here 6 yrs and it seems at least 4-5x’s a yr we have Power outages. More accurately it happens when ever the wind blows too hard or it rains. I think it’s specifically happens so that our sump pump can’t get electricity and then floods the basement so we lose yet another carpet, more Christmas decorations and my oldest son then has to clean his room. (I’m the only liking that part)
It hasn’t been a week and we were out of electricity again! The neighbor 2 houses to the right of me decided he had enough and wasn’t going to stand for it any more. How could I blame him. I’m sweating my butt off my self and the kids were just miserable. We bounced around to a few house’s Friday Night to stay cool and then went home at 1am to go to bed because my 4 yr old decided
“I’m going home and your taking me NOW!!! I don’t want to stay here. I want to sleep in my bed. Take me home. Take me home. Take me home.”
No pleasing him I decided to load them up in the car and return home to find my
drunkin’ neighbor stumbling in my drive way then down my side walk and toward his own house.
Hubby came out and I said “Look at the Wacko. He’s gonna knock himself into the tree and pass out.” We quickly got the kids in the house and went to bed. Sweating!
Gosh it was SO HOT!!
Our Refrigerator blew, so we thought and spoiled all the food and we had to clean and throw it all out.
At 7:30am I woke to hubby talking on the phone something about Guy’s with Guns in the front yard. Scared me to Death!
This was takin from my driveway!
So I ran down to see what was going on.
Here to find out the neighbor had several visits throughout the night by the police and yet they didn’t decide to not take him to the station til’ the standoff.
What we heard was: He called 911 and said he was going to start shooting if the electricity was wasn’t turned on. Then someone said he had a hostage. Then another said he waved a gun and said he shoot at the police…So who knows what the actual reason was.
As we watched out the window and tried to step out of the house we were immediately ordered back in. The police began to multiply and so did the Guns they carried. AK47 , M16 and then a team that looked like S.W.A.T.T. but had the letters S.S.E.R.T on the back of their jackets. The S.S.E.R.T is an south suburban emergency response team. They are a highly skilled tactical team put together to protect over 600,000 residents. Covering Alsip. Blue Island, Burbank. Oak Lawn. Orland Just to name a few cities..
They red taped off the area from our home across the street and then again down on the end of the block.
My family watched out the window to see what was going on.
It wasn’t long til’ they held up in front of the window of our home planning what the next step
A few hours went by and then we found out the next step. We were asked to leave our home. A man with a gun came to the door asked my husband Who was in house and then told us we had 5 minutes to pack a bag, gather the children and get out. Let them know when we were ready. Then a police officer came in and explained what he needed us to do. Not take our car, stay close to the building, call for a ride or wait at the end of the block til it was all over. Maybe it will only take an hour.
They were only concerned for our safety and we could understand that. They offered to have a police officer drive my husband car down the block should we need it. They did that for us.
I don’t have any other pictures of the rest of the after noon. We had to leave so quickly with gathering up the children and a few things I didn’t grab it. (I know your bumbed. me too.)
The whole ordeal lasted 4 hours and was over by noon. They took him into custody and told us it would be a long time before he’d be coming back. We were certainly re-leaved on that.
It wasn’t til this afternoon when I was outside with the children in front of our home when we saw him taking the garbage and he had the nerve to Smile and wave at me. Frightened. I was thinking-Smile and wave before he comes over here wacked out in the middle of the night and does something awful.
The newspaper made it sound like a routine call and barely got 3 minutes of coverage on the News. How sad was that. All our neighbor’s for blocks received phone calls alerting them of the incident to make them aware.
My husband called the police and they said that he was bailed out. BAILED OUT! We couldn’t believe it. They said that the Dr. Deemed him safe and let him out and they kept him til he sobered up and then had to let him go once he was bailed out. They apologized and said it made them sick as well but unfortunately their hands are tied.
How sad! Now we have to live in fear and wonder when is the next time this crazy neighbor is going to Wig out and start threatening people again.
Our electricity finally went on late yesterday. Hopefully with the storms on the way in the next few days we won’t have another Power outage.
Now that my electricity is finally on I can get back to my regularly scheduled posts. Thanks for being patient and returning.

that is nuts! I am glad everyone was safe. I do wish that for everyone's sake the news would cover the multiple power outages and someone would do something about them. YIKES!
Everytime there is a storm we lose power too, but our power goes back on within 24 hours. Sounds like yours is off for much more than that.

Have a great day
I'm buying you a "FOR SALE" Sign! That's crap. You need to write to Fox News. http://www.myfoxchicago.com And tell them about this dirt-bag being cut loose, and you're afraid to let your kids play outside or in your own bag yard. That's totally bull! Get a petition started in the neighborhood or something. They let this freak go!?! And then he has the nerve to smile at you??? Let me at him! I'm coming over this week!
OMG!! sounds like a bit of a scary adventure. How crazy is it that he is home!?! Hope he stays sane and leaves your family alone and everyone else in your neighborhood.
