Bringing family together for this holiday season makes me most thankful for these times we spend together. I remember when we were kids that the fun times were when we spent time playing outside. Basketball, football, baseball or even just raking leaves and jumping in the piles. There was always a lot of running, sweating, tackling and of course laughter. Creating memories with family and during dinner time conversations always resort back to “remember when”.
We’ve grown up and now have our own families. We live an hour to four hours from each other and getting together is rare. We now have the fun times with our own children. Raking leaves, playing baseball, chasing the kids down the block while on bicycles as it begins to rain and they ride through puddles, and jumping in mud puddles while crossing the park. We love pulling out the paint trays with books or paper and letting the kids paint. Many times they paint themselves. Kid always find the best way to play and get dirty. Don’t they?!
I’m most thankful for the family vacations like the one we take every year to Wisconsin Dells Kalahari Water park : Over the years we’ve takin family trips to the water park along with bring my niece along for more fun. We’ve went several times with hubby’s brother and his family, Grandpa’s even come along and so has Hubby’s Aunt, and one time my brother and his children came along too. The Kalahari has fun activities for kids like painting and cookie frosting, and of course fun water activities along with nightly activities in the game room. In the last two years they have added a really fun indoor theme park that adds another day onto our already exhausting family fun trip.
I’m Thankful for family trips to the Zoo. We purchase yearly passes for Brookfield Zoo so that we can take the kids as often as we can without being over charged for all the visits. On weekends when hubby’s not working we take the kids together. There is plenty of fun things for the kids to do like playing in the park, walking around the petting zoo, craft projects in the Children’s zoo, and so much more. There’s always something new to see and spending time together as a family and making memories is always the best part.
Thankful for Family Trips to the Pumpkin Farm: When fall hits and the weather starts getting a little chilly we love taking the kids to the pumpkin farm. There’s always fun things to do like jumping in corn pools, climbing on hay stacks, petting zoo and riding dusty tractor rides. The kids always have the greatest time and usually climb back in the car with the dirtiest clothes and face’s.Falling asleep on the way home is the best part. We just love the silence of exhausted sleeping kids.
I’m a shout Go and Play Mom and I wrote this post to share what family activities we are most thankful for. I let my kids get dirty because shout helps me catch the stains before they have a chance to set in. Thanks to the Moms Bloggers Club I’m a participant in the Shout Go Play Ambassador program.
Shout knows play is so much more than fun and games. Studies show that unstructured play helps kids build fundamental skills like problem solving, coping, and conflict resolution. In other words: play is how kids become happy, healthy adults. Fall has arrived with crisp, cool air and new reasons to go out and play. So, let your kids take that rewarding jump into a pile of leaves. Take at trip to the park and watch their imaginations run free. The one thing you won’t do is worry about their clothes; play should get messy and Shout can help.
What are the family times you are most thankful for this holiday season?
