My fourth grade daughter loves facts. All kinds of facts. She wants to know a little bit about everything. She’s like a book of questions that wants to be a sponge for knowledge. I think many 10 year olds are. Just the other day she asked me, “Why don’t woodpeckers get a headache when they peck on tree’s all day?” To be honest, I didn’t have a clue what the answer was. I posted it on facebook in hopes someone would give me a clue or atleast get a laugh out of it. My daughter comes up with questions like this every single day!! Sometimes more than one “inquiring minds want to know” question a day. If your raising a child like this then you need to take a look at the National geographic Kids Almanac.
The National Geographic Kids Almanac 2012 features timely (as well as timeless) information on popular subjects such as amazing animals, cool inventions, world cultures, science, sports, technology, history and more. Supersized new sections deliver hours of fun with games, weird-but-true trivia and facts on newly discovered dinosaurs. More than 500 incredible photographs, 20 full-color maps and 350 easy-to-read pages jam-packed with fun lure kids into learning. Homework Help sections and project ideas make this a book kids will return to again and again throughout the year.
Features include:

This month, the fully updated and highly anticipated 2012 edition hits the shelves, with new mobile media features making it the only interactive kids’ almanac. Now, for the first time, at the beginning of each chapter kids will find a code they can scan with a smart phone that will give them access to extra content, including video, fun facts, games and slideshows. Throughout the book, a virtual pet, Zipper the dog, alerts readers to cool clicks and Web links to help kids learn even more.
Our Review of the National Geographic Kids Almanac: My daughter loves, loves this book. She has not put it down since I gave it to her, and the best part is she shares facts that she reads in the book rather than asking me wild questions I know nothing about. She has the book in her hand when she’s out side. She brings it with her on car rides and tonight at dinner she was sharing fun facts she found in the book. The whole family learned some really great things. We don’t have a smart phone so I can’t comment on the newest feature but I certainly am curious about it.
