Fast Five’s Tyrese Gibson & Jordana Brewster appeared at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race

We’ve always been huge fans of the FAST AND FURIOUS Movies. We are a family that loves racing and speed. That is why it was so exciting to attend an event with Tyrese Gibson AND Jordana Brewster stars of the Blockbuster film FAST FIVE.  They jump started the action at the Nascar camping world truck series race “FAST FIVE 225″ on Friday. They both did a meet and great with the Fans to promote FAST FIVE and they signed autographs.   Tyrese Gibson sang the National Anthem which we heard from Will Call while we waited in line to pick up tickets.  With traffic here in Chicago we unfortunately missed the meet and greet but we were able to see the end of Tyrese on singing on the Jumbo Tron in center pit along with  Tyrese and Jordana also did the that ever popular announcement Race Starting Phrase together, ” Drivers Start Your Engines!”  That had to be really cool and an honor.  I did get to meet the Universal Studios Rep’s briefly as they handed out FAST FIVE hats.  The race was about to start so we had to hurry. We didn’t want to miss one of the most exciting parts.

Joliet, Ill. – August 18, 2011 – In a first of its kind for NASCAR, Chicagoland Speedway today announced the blockbuster movie Fast Five, the biggest and most successful installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise debuting October 4 on Blu-ray™ and DVD from Universal Studios Home Entertainment, as the event title sponsor for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, September 16 at Chicagoland Speedway – the “Fast Five 225.”

A high-stakes, adrenaline-pumping thrill ride, Fast Five stars global superstar Tyrese Gibson and the talented and beautiful Jordana Brewster, who will co-serve as the Grand Marshals of the “Fast Five 225” to kick off the explosive triple header weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. Grammy-nominated artist Tyrese Gibson, whose highly anticipated new album Open Invitation will be released November 1 through Voltron Recordz/EMI Music Services, will also sing the national anthem.

I suppose if you’ve ever seen Nascar on Television or attended a race you know the excitement in the air as the Racers start their engines. The smell of race fuel fills the air as the roar of the engines blast out your ear drums. Hopefully you are wearing ear plugs. My husband loves it and gets a huge adrenaline rush. He’s been racing Go karts ever since he was a kid and dreams of the day he’ll be able to get behind a wheel of a Race Car and experience what it would be like to drive on a Nascar track one day. Until the day comes he’ll live through the dreams of others watching Nascar racing, Truck racing and of course awesome Movies like the Fast and Furious and Fast Five.

Fast Five will be released in a never-before-seen Extended Edition on Blu-ray and DVD Combo Packs, DVD, Digital Download and On Demand. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead a reunion of returning all-stars from every chapter of the explosive franchise built on speed as former cop Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) partners with ex-con Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) on the opposite side of the law while pursued by a federal agent (Dwayne Johnson). Chicagoland Speedway is the first race of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this September – the first of ten ‘playoff’ style NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races in pursuit of the 2011 championship. The Fast Five 225 kicked off the weekend Friday, September 16 followed by the Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola on Saturday, Sept. 17. The three day weekend  concluded on Sunday, Sept. 18 (postponed due to Rain) with the GEICO 400 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Unfortunately this race was rained out and will be taking place today, Monday September 18, 2011 … If they can get it in with all the rain we are experiencing. It certainly will be an exciting race with Kyle Bush, Carl Edwards and Jimmie Johnson in the top three leading the point series.

I have not seen Fast Five yet but we are certainly excited to view it along with add it to our collection of the movies. My men are Gear heads and this will be one film they will watch over and over just like the others. Of course nothing bets live action of racing but if you love racing and even if you don’t and you just love adrenaline movies Fast Five will be the one to see.

We were seated off the the left of the track for the race and this was one of the crews who did pit stops right in front of us. Pretty cool!   This was the very first race the kid attended.  My daughter thought the trucks were too loud. My son thought they weren’t loud enough. Gotta love boys.  If you ever been to a race you know that the trucks or cars are super loud when they go at the speed they drive at. Over 100 miles an hour and all going by at the same time. It’s a huge adrenaline rush as they whiz by.  I love watching the Pit Stops because cars race in, pit crews run out for all but a few seconds and they move quickly to get the driver back out on the track again in as little time as possible.   So much action!
