When asked where you were on SEPTEMBER 11, 2001, just 10 years ago, I can answer as if the moment were yesterday. I was at home cleaning my house as my almost 1 year old daughter played on the floor in the living room while Barney played on the television. My Telephone rang. I answered

My x-husband asked, “Are you watching television?”
ME: “Barney. Why?”
HIM: Turn on Channel 9 Now
ME: Why?
Him: Just do it!! Now! It’s okay just do it.
I felt the hair on my arms stand up
Me: As I walked over grabbed the remote … “Are you okay? Oh My god! What is that? Where is that? Are you okay? Where is that? What am I watching. Is this real?”

I watched as the Airplane crashed into the 2nd Tower. In disbelief I had no idea what I was watching. As I watched I grabbed my daughter and held her close. I watched for another half hour and the phone rang. The school. My 9 yr old was in school and they wanted parents to pick up their children. I went to my son’s school to pick him up. I wanted him close to me.

OF all the footage I watched that day and the next week following every moment was full of tears and disbelief. My adoption Lawyer John had a brother who worked at the Pentagon and he died that day. There was a memorial service in his remembrance for the memory of his brother and all those lost in 9.11 in Naperville, Il. John was never the same after that.

Here’s a few popular songs dedicated to 9.11 Terrorist attack tragedy that really touch my heart. I wanted to share them with you.

  1. I was asleep and my husband woke me up . It made every thing more strange because I was so groggy. A local radio station was playing The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and the DJ said it was Winston Curchill’s favourite hymn.

  2. Gigantic goose bumps here, and a lump as big as the moon in my throat. I don’t know if I can listen or watch any of this, but I don’t want to miss it either. History in the making. We all need to pray tonight. I don’t trust them with the 10th Anniversary of a Country Heartbreak! Great job on your Post.

  3. I remember the day after driving to work and hearing that song, Proud to be an American and just crying all the way!

  4. Thanks for sharing these. I haven’t forgotten the day, but some of these songs had slipped my mind. Returning the visit from the Alexa hop. Thanks for stopping by.
