Blok Squad Fire Patrol Rescue Review

When it comes to children you want to make sure they you have projects that will keep them busy and entertained. It helps keep them out of trouble and gives them something to do.  When kids are busy with toys they enjoy there’s less fighting.  That’s why we enjoy Mega Bloks.  The Blok Sqad Fire Patrol Rescue series is full of hours of building and playing fun. It features 190 pieces and is available for only $9.99 making this building playset fun for value conscious mom and offers kids lot of play out of the box.

The Blok Squad Fire Patrol Rescue Playset introduces children to everyday hero’s they already know and love. Theme’s such as a fire patrol , police and construction.  These blok sets are perfect for children in the stages where they are growing out of the large blocks and transitioning to micro blocks and ready for a more detailed building.

When we opened the box and sat down with the instructions I noticed several bags of bloks.  I started with the directions and realized that the bags are not numbered and opening them in a bowl would be a better option to keep pieces together.  The directions are detailed and you need to work your way through them 1 at a time not skipping any steps and pulling out the pieces as you go for each step is important.  My son is 5 yr old going on 6 and he doesn’t have patience or the problem solving skills to work through putting something this large together .  He looked through the instructions and then tried to build on his own.  He quickly became frustrated because it wasn’t looking the the photo.  He then let me help him go through the instructions together.  It was a fun project for us to do together although I have to be honest it was a tad difficult for me. Searching through tiny pieces looking for the one’s I needed that never seemed to be in the first package I opened.  It would be so helpful if the packages were labeled so we knew what packages went to what vehicle, especially with there being more than one vehicle in the box.

assembly is a process to be taken slowly

It didn’t take too long before we had one of the vehicles together.  The Firetruck was a lot more pieces as you can tell just by looking at the photo.  My son wanted to wait for another day to tackle that one and began to play with the truck we already put together.

I really love that it’s a fun project to build together and I think as he begins to mature that he’ll find the project easier to put together on his own.  There are so many other category kits to add to the collection it will keep him occupied for hours with a whole community.  We already owned the Police Force Chopper so the Block Squad Fire Patrol was a great addition to add and start a collection but we’ll need to get several small individual containers or ziplocks to keep the pieces in along with instructions.

I would recommend the Blok Squad kits for children ages 7 and up. I think that 5 yrs old is too young for the problem solving challenges in putting this together although if you have someone who enjoys putting together projects with a younger children then this would make the perfect gift.
