Delicious Bake Pops Cake Pops Review and #Giveaway

Filed in Giveaway , Household 101 comments

Having kids means you have a lot of parties or atleast entertain for playdates several times a week. I love the bake pops concept. Fun bite sized “scrumptious cake on a pop stick you can take.” that you can decorate  mouth full of joy. Cake is usually a great treat all kids love. Every time I bake the kids gather around the kitchen and they love to help. The best part is licking the batter bowl and the mixing wands. I can always count on the kids for that. The other part they love is decorating them before eating them.

The kids and I decided we’d make cake pops this weekend. They had everything out we’d need and were ready to go right after dinner. Getting started I read the instructions on the cake pops tin it said that I needed to substitute the water for milk but only use half of what I would use and also add an extra egg. So we poured the batter in the bowl, added 4 eggs, and a 1/2 cup of milk along with 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. The cake pop pans also mentioned to use pudding mix but it didn’t give any more directions than that so I was confused on that part. Do I put it in dry? Do I make the pudding and add it to the batter? What? I had no idea. So we skipped that part. I found out later that Bake pops has complete video instructions for people like me who get confused. Be sure to view the Bake Pops video for fun decorating ideas as well as instructions.

We then mixed the batter with my hand mixer. I don’t have a fancy mixing bowl or anything like that but this works just fine. I sprayed the pans with baking spray (spray that contains flour is ideal) both top and bottom as well as the outside just in case any cake should happen to bake up through the holes. (this did happen) After the batter was mixed I then just used a spoon to put it in each half circle. There are 18 of them in the first baking batch. I think that’s great!

I added the top half and secured it with the 2 rubber clips that come in the package

Here’s where it gets tricky. The directions say 25-30 minutes in the oven on 350 degree’s. My oven just doesn’t work normally and I always have to adjust times and keep an eye on everything I bake. I tend to burn a lot of meals and we all know how stinky that is. I was bound and determined to keep an eye on these and pray they came out perfect. Well 20 minutes later…. guess what? They already burnt but thankfully it wasn’t too bad. My oven really stinks.

I took the plastics sticks dipped each one in frosting and stuck them in. Then we frosted a few and added some fun sprinkles. The frosting worked okay but I really want to try the candy coating.

Bake Pops Tips:

  • Dip end of stick in colored candy coating. Set in bake pop and allow it to harden. This makes bake pops easier for handling.
  • Add 2 tsp of veg shortening or 1 table spoon of vegetable oil to make candy coating smoother and easier to work with.
  • Be sure to work with warm candy coating. If starts to cool simply warm it up again.

Here’s the finished result.

The kids really enjoyed decorating them and adding sprinkles. We don’t get to fancy with ours but they taste just as good and look just as tasty. If your looking for fun cute ideas to do with the bake pop kits you’ll also find fun creative tasty Bake Pop ideas on Pinterest!

With Bake Pops the creativity is endless. You decided how much time you would like to put in to decorating.  Gather the kids to help and decorating time can be shortened in half.  They are ideal for birthdays, holidays, baby showers or any day of the week. No bakery diploma needed. Decorate, serve and enjoy.

The Bake Pop kits sell for $19.99 plus S&H.
