What’s it like to attend the Disneynature Chimpanzee World Movie Premier? Incredibly exciting. There were so many people awaiting and anticipating the release of this True life film and Dr. Jane Goodall was in attendance to make it even more exciting. Dr. Jane Goodall is known for her 45 years of social interactions with Chimpanzee. She works extensively on animal welfare and conservation issues and is the founder of Jane Goodall Roots and Shoots, a youth group that helps to empower children to take action to improve their local environment for both humans and animals. She has written several books, children’s books, films and has founded several other institutes and won many, many awards for her work. She’s an incredible inspiring women and I was so proud to attend Disney’s Conservation Award’s Ceremony where she was honored and to meet her in person at a round table for a question and answers session with 20 other bloggers. Check back for a post on this later.
This Clip shares a deep insight of the film not only from the directors but from Dr. Jane Goodall, herself.
Disneynature CHIMPANZEE Movie Review
Inspiring story of family, love, heartache and adoption Disneynature’s Chimpanzee will give you a whole new admiration and inspiration for the beautiful creatures Chimpanzee. It has been said that Chimpanzee’s are a lot like humans. They have similarities in traits, and personality. When I saw this film I was inspired. Not only were we able to get a glimpse into African forest but we also were given the gift of following along in the lives of these really intelligent creatures. What I found was that they go through daily survival and life in many ways as we do.
Chimpanzee is an incredible true life journey for a young chimp named “Oscar”. Oscar reminded me of my son at the age of two. He was mischievous yet observant and most eager to learn. Watching Oscar’s daily activities as he learned from his mother and tried to mimic her actions, it was easy to see how this young chimp was developing life survival skills, while relaying on his mothers love and guidance, but he still had a lot to learn.
This story is read by a narrator who shares what actions are being taken by the chimps and what we are visually seeing. There are several clips of time lapse to give you an incredible visual of plant growth in the forest and a up close view of the journey of army ants. Just the visual on location is something that many of use will never see in real life but this film will take you there.
This film was done over a 3 year period to give you a glimpse into the life of a chimp family and predators in the forest. You’ll laugh, you’ll be amazed but most of all you’ll see a loving adoption to guide in the growth of a young chimp after a sad tragedy becomes of his mother after an encounter with a rival chimp tribe fighting for land and food.
I fell in love with Oscar that day and worried about his survival. You can’t help but want to hear more about him and want to care for him. The film is suitable for all ages and rated “G” and Disney made sure that even young children will enjoy this film. I can’t wait to take my 4, 6 and 11 yr old to see this. They get so excited every time I show them the youtube Chimpanzee clip.
Oscar’s incredible journey in Chimpanzee opens this Friday, April 20th. A portion of first week ticket proceeds will go toward saving these incredible creatures. Gather the family and see the film the first week. You’ll be glad you did. It’s time to introduce a new generation to a world they might not of known and they too will see that it is so important to preserve the nature of Chimpanzee.

By going to see the film you are contributing to the survival of Chimpanzee. It will be unbelievable- Dr. Jane Goodall

At a light and lean 77 minutes, Chimpanzee is perfect family fare as kids will love watching the antics of the young chimps, and just before they figure out its educational, the credits are rolling. However, it can be a bit too disturbing for them at some points. I also thought that Tim Allen’s narration helped the film out a lot with its tone as well. Good review Tricia.
I know Dave and I are going to see this movie. You make it sound so excited, but how wonderful to have actually met Dr. Goodall. She has a very warm smile. I heard a documentary about her before, and she sounds like a one of a kind lady, a one of a kind person. How exciting to be on the red carpet right there in the heart of all the excitement. Thanks for sharing your special moment. Great Post.
