School Donations. Shop to Give Back And Help The Less Fortunate #Bagitforward #Champion4Kids

Growing up we struggled. My mom was single and had to provide for four children. Heading back to school during a new year was especially difficult when we didn’t have all the supplies listed the first week of school.  Having three kids in school this year I certainly know that it’s not easy to have to come up with the cash to purchase long lists of school supplies in triplicate.  There’s are millions of children across the country who return to school without the proper school supplies to get through the day. Teachers can take the time to teach our children but without the proper utensils kids feel embarrassed and unprepared, and struggle to stay focused during class.  Teachers are taking money out of their own pockets to purchase school supplies to help these children because they don’t want them to struggle and they want to help them succeed in class.

I have a friend who works in the inner city school system where the population is at poverty level and below. She’s worked as a school teacher in the same school system for over 20 years. She’s an amazing teacher and always goes out of her way to help these kids.  Every year she tells me  how the struggle without supplies. Half the class comes to school without supplies and it very difficult for her to complete tasks during the day when half the class doesn’t have paper, pencils or even a 50 cent bottle of Elmer’s glue.  With the low prices of school supplies at Walmart shopping for school supplies doesn’t have to break the bank. If everyone can just pick up a few necessities and drop them off at the local school or shelter this would help out the kids who’s parents can’t provide due to low of income or unemployment and the teachers who are pulling money out of their own pockets to help make up the difference.

Today I went on a shopping trip to Walmart to pick up school supplies for my children. Check out our journey to the store here in our Google plus story. A Goggle Plus Story shares photos of our shopping trip and the kinds of items the kids needed for school along with the low prices that Walmart offers on Back to School Supplies.

I picked up extra items to donate for the #Bagitforward program and I can’t wait to give it to my Best friend for her 3rd and 4th grade classroom. I just know she’s going to be so excited to have a school supplies that the kids can really use to help them get through class assignments and complete learning tasks. Last year I donated a generous bag of school supplies and she was over the moon excited. I can’t wait to see her face again this year.

In the Elmer’s Bag It Forward SIMPLE Service Project Champions for Kids #Champion4Kids you too can help the children in our school system.  My idea is to gather up multiples of the same item the help several kids in the classroom. Items like pencils, folders, paper, scissors, erasers and lots of Elmer’s bottled glue and glue sticks to keep in a box and have on hand to help the kids when they run out or are in need.  Even just a small amount different school supplies can help the kids.
