How to Make a Safety Pin and Beads Surfer Girl Bracelet #KlutzBooks

I’m a part of the Klutz Crew Brand Ambassador Program and we received the Klutz Safety Pin Bracelets Book for review.

Craft activities are great to keep kids entertained and focused. Jewelry Fashion Trends for kids are sweeping nation and have been since I was kid and way before, I imagine. Remember when we used to wear safety pins with beads and pin them to our shoe laces on white tennis shoes? We traded them with friends and called them “Friendship” pins. Today there are all kinds of beaded safety pin crafts and kids just love wearing them and trading them. Friendship bracelets are the best when they are made from Safety pin and beads. Here’s a Surfer Girl Bracelet that my daughter and I made with safety pins and colorful beads with a pattern found in the Klutz Safety Pin Bracelets Book.

My daughter and I sat down for a few hours the other night to put together a safety pin and beaded bracelet like the one she’s wearing below.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 12 inch (30 cm) length of cord
  • 30 small safety pins
  • 60 green little beads
  • 96 blue big beads
  • 30 pink bugle beads
  • Tape
  • Glue or clear nail polish
  • Scissors

Begin by beading the 30 small safety pins with 1 green little bead, 1 pink bugle bead, 1 green little bead

2.  Tape each cord down to the table about 1 inch apart. Next you’ll begin by string the beaded pins on facing up. After you’ll sting 2 big blue beads onto the top cord, and add another pin. Repeat step until you have 5 pins done. Then you’ll flip the pins and begin doing the same on the bottom but first you’ll need to add 6 blue big beads onto the bottom cord.

3.  You’ll repeat these steps until you have 6 sets of safety pins. You’ll end up on a wave of safety pins curving upward. To finish the bracelet you’ll double knot the ends of the cords together.

To secure the bracelet use a dab of nail polish or glue onto the knot for a extra-secure bracelet.  (DO NOT skip this step!!)

Today I went into my daughters room and saw she made this spectacular ankle bracelet from the same book but another pattern.
