This Years Swim Progress with the Help of Swimways

Teaching your child to swim can be a long or a short progression depending on the child.  A few weeks ago I shared information on Swimways swimming stage product program and how they were helping my six year old build confidence in the water.  My six year old truly amazed me this summer with how fast he caught on.  Last year he loved getting in the water. He loved his swimways vest that we purchased at the pool store and it made going in the pool enjoyable for him. He would move from end to end in the pool and tried kicking up his feet with hanging onto floatation devices and the side of the pool.  This year we were asked to be swimways ambassador and we received products perfect for their age and level of swimming  experience.

6 yr old swimming progression: In the beginning of the year he started off with Step3 program. He’s never had swim lessons but took to the water like a fish. He’s always loved being in the water.  He used the Power Swimr for about 2-3 weeks to assist him and help build his confidence in the water.

By the mid-summer he reached the Swim Step 4 swimming stage and was using swimming goggles, and kick boards and swimming around the pool with just a little support and confidence. He really loves being in the water and I’m so excited for him to of learned how to swim this summer with the swimways steps program.

Just 2 weeks ago we were visiting friends and he was swimming on his own. I’m so proud of how far he’s come with his swimming skills and we have Swimways to thank.  He’s really an incredible child and I’m just amazed at how quickly he learned now shows so much confidence even with putting his face underwater and being able to hold his breathe while underwater and coming up for air when he was ready. Just look at him go!!

My 4 yr olds swim/water progress: My lil man’s water experience isn’t as advanced as his older brother at this age. Last year even with wearing swimways Step1 baby spring float and Step2 swim sweater products (we purchased a few yrs ago and passed down from child to child) in the pool he was still a bit terrified with me just holding him.  It would take about an hour before he’d warm up and enjoy being in the water.  Once I would get out of the water he would too.  This year things were pretty much the same. He refused to even get in the water with me holding him and although he had a small kiddie pool to splash in he still enjoyed the summer in this fun Dolphin Swimways vest. Although its listed as a dolphin fest he claimed he was a shark and loved wearing it.

We watch a lot of shark boy and lava girl and I am pretty sure that’s where shark boy came from. Too cute. Right?!

The Sea Squirt swim assistant Dolphin vest is just what he needed to make his outdooor water experience fun. Even if he’s not in the water he still enjoying himself sitting on the deck.  He would run around the pool and act like he was going to get the kids inside.

The vest does run a bit small in size so be sure to try it on your child before purchasing. The vest is available in small, medium and large. Choose from Orca, blue dolphin, pink dolphin, clown fish.

While it will probably take my little man some time to get used to being in the water we now have a little squirts life jacket to help him feel more comfortable in the water.

We visit indoor water parks during the winter so I can’t wait for him to wear  it and take time to get used to being in the water and build confidence to move up to the next swimways swimming stage.

Disclosure: I received several products as a swimways ambassador to aid and teach my children how to swim this summer.  Many thanks to Swimways for the opportunity. No other compensation has been provided.
