Many people would say I’m pretty strict with my kids but I say I’m just cautious. This world has changed a lot since I grew up and the safety of my children is a huge concern for me. I don’t allow my children to do a whole lot without myself or their father present and there’s a good reason. I watch the news and there’s always something on television with teen violence, cyber bullying, texting accidents, mobile phones privacy issues as well as over-usage, and more. I’m really interested in attending a session to learn about the resources for parents to help our family stay connected and stay safe and to see what safety precautions are available for children should I decide that I want to provide my them with a cell phone in the future. More than half my daughter’s 6th grade class has cell. While my husband and I have discussed getting our daughter a cell phone we just haven’t decided if we wanted to open up that world to her at the age of 12. To us cell phone would only be used in case of emergency’s and after school activity ride phone calls. Not socializing and texting the day away with friends.
