My son just finished his very first season of Floor Hockey. The season started in September and we did months and months of practices, a game every week and exercises to get him to the last game of the season.
Kids against the Parents.
Sounds comical right?
Only when hubby winds up on the bench then it’s freaking hysterical.
Here’s how the night went.
Started off with the dad’s talking strategies against their 6 and 7 yr old sons Or perhaps they were just using the sticks for balance. Who knows.
Of course no Hockey game that includes dads starts out should ever start without his aunt giving him a lecture on playing fair, being nice, let your son win, don’t take him out at the knees, … blah blah blah
The kids played their hearts out and let me tell you they whipped the adults 4-2. The energy that it takes to run back and forth and chase the puck… short winded even me. Which is probably why my kid lost 7 lbs this season.
Hubby was making fun of me for not wanting to get out on the floor and I decided the 2nd quarter I’d make my move. I hadn’t run the floor much less ever played hockey but I was willing to give it a try.
I believe the coach accused me several times of using the Hockey stick like a broom. Hey You use what you know!
Sweeping is what I know.
The best part of the game was when Hubby was thrown out for high sticking!! For your reward 1 minute in the Penalty box.
Way To Go Dad!
We absolutely loved having our son in Floor Hockey and their team was undefeated!! We can’t wait to sign up both boys next season. They should be on the same team which will make it much easier on us and not to mention an experience I’m sure we’ll all remember.
Does your child play sports? Is it through the park district or school program?

So funny! It looks like fun though.
How funny.
This was so funny – it is nice that you spend family togetherness during hockey playing and other sports. Good luck to the athletes in the family! May the bench be not their landing spot
OMG – I just spent your whole post giggling. I wish I could have seen this game!
LOL! How fun!
LOL this is hilarious I love the broom comment.
That is so neat that you were both able to get out there and experience a little of it!
HILARIOUS! love that the dads had to be told to play fair & let their sons win! lol
That looks like so much fun! I don’t have kids yet, but I used to play after school sports.
My little guy is too young for school sports, but we had him in a soccer league.
My girls used to play soccer through the local park and rec program, but we moved, so I need to find a new program for them.
That looks like a TON of fun … I wonder if we have a league here. I’ll have to find out!
OMG That looks like so much fun and such happy parents and son! I think maybe I should see one of these in person! hehehe I’LL BE THE CHEER SQUAD! hehhee
Looks like so much fun! We tried baseball, soccer, and basketball. My son loved basketball and was decent, then during off season he was cast in a play at our local children’s theatre. He was a natural, became hooked and now does plays, which take up too much time to play sports.
wow how great is that. I bet your so proud! Maybe he’ll be an professional actor one day
