I absolutely love getting to experiences new places and new things. When I was on the Monsters University Event in California earlier this month I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum located in The Presidio of San Francisco which is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco.

The Walt Disney Family Museum is a beautiful museum that shares the life and legacy of the legendary Walt Disney. Never being able to visit the museum before I knew I was in for a really wonderful experience as I walked through each room taking a tour and hearing all about the life, the man, the legend- Mr. Walt Disney and all of the emotional, and wonderful life experiences he had including early drawings of the first Disney films, movies, and animation creations.

Each room had took on a life all it’s own. There was so much to see, read about, admire, and explore in each room. I hated having to move on to the next room before I was finished exploring. There’s so much I never knew and each moment was more interesting than the last.

Do you remember the old Mickey Mouse cartoons where they were just musical?  There was even a room where I was able join in with a 2 friends to reenact the sound track of Steam Boat Willy. It was so much fun.  Look at the table. Do you see all the old gadgets used to perform music?  We watched the silent film on a big screen and along the bottom it told us what instrument needed to be hit to make the sound we needed in the film. I loved that.

There were so many heart touching stories I’ve never heard before about Walt Disney. Did you know he was a huge Train buff? He loved trains. Believe it or not a long time ago we used to have a train fair right here in Chicago!!  Walt Loved trains so much he even owned miniature railroad. He even built a locomotive with the help of Roger Broggie and staff in the studio machine shop. He called it the Lily Belle. After his wife. Isn’t that the sweetest?

One of the most really cool things to look at was the miniature model of Disneyland. Have a look. It’s so detailed with rides, walk ways, benches and so much more. My 7 yr old son looked at all the photos from my trip and really loved this one especially.

This is just a small sneak peak of the things you’ll experience, learn and get to see at the Walt Disney Family Museum. The building even has a bit of history that your sure to love hearing about.

You’ll love the history and you’ll love the man and most of all if you love Disney Film’s you owe it to your self to learn about the history and magic behind them.

I personally love looking at old photos and hearing about the life history of Walt Disney. The room that you stand in before heading in to Museum is filled with so many award given to Walt Disney. He deserved each and every one of them. He was an incredible man that touched the lives of so many people and is still doing so even today.

The Museum really touched my heart and I couldn’t help but cry once hearing the story of the end of Walt’s life. He was a truly remarkable man with a dream that he shared with the world. I give you  a beautiful quote from Walt Disney.

So if your ever in the The Presidio of San Francisco area be sure to take in a bit of history and stop by the Walt Disney Family Museum. The area is absolutely beautiful to travel through and the Golden Gate Bridge is a beautiful site to see especially for the very first time.
