It’s really amazing how much we rely on cell phone and social networks socializing to stay in touch. Hubby and I have been sharing one cell phone for the past 7 yrs. Go ahead ask me how that’s working. It’s not. Seems like he always takes it when I need it for something but when he’s traveling in the car long distance with the kids I want him to have a cell phone should the car break down or in case of emergency or just in case I need him for something. Lately I’ve been getting text messages from his friends when I have the cell phone. This is very awkward. Because of the rates of cell phone services and our other bills it makes it next to impossible for us each to have a cell phone. We just can’t afford it right now. What we need is a cheap wireless rate plan.
I’ve been on the look out for affordable family cell phone service for quite sometime. What were looking for is smartphone service without a contract. Hubby gets laid off in the winter so it would just make it easier if we didn’t have to commit to having a contract and just use it when we need it. Currently my son and I are paying over $200 on cell phone service for Talk/text/web and it’s not unlimited service. Each month we get notices that we are close to our maximum data allowance as we get closer to the date that the data allowance amount starts over. I hate having to stop using the phone when I so desperately need it.
I headed out today to check out Walmart’s Family Mobile Service plans for a #cbias shop for #FamilyMobileSaves. Be sure to check out my path to purchase Google + Album for full details. What I found was great plans at affordable prices and discounts for each family member who also gets on the plan. There were several phones and plans to choose from.
To get started on a plan all you need to do is choose a plan and then choose a phone or you can use your own. Don’t worry about the shelf looking empty and not seeing phones. Just go to the cashier and ask her to get you one. They have them in the back and she’ll be happy to go back and get you one.
I decided on the T-Mobile Concord Smartphone and also purchased a $25 Starter Kit card.
From the moment I saw $39.88 for Talk text and web I knew that it sounded like a great plan. They also have $29.88 for unlimited plans that include Talk/Text. I was excited to give the full service Talk/Text/Web a try and hope that the service was just as good if not better than what I’ve been using. What I love most is that there’s no contract and it’s the lowest price rate plan that I’ve seen for full unlimited service. It looks to be a great cheap wireless rate plan that will suit our needs.
The Concord phone was on sale for $79.88 it’s and it’s an Android phone which is exactly what hubby and I are both used to. The Starter Kit was only $25 bringing my total to only $112.75. It’s going to be so nice having another cell phone in the house especially with two teenagers with after school activities and spending time at the mall and friends house. It will allow us to give them a cell phone to call for a ride when practice is over or they need to get picked up from the mall.
The phone comes with a plug in charger and a USB cord for transferring data from the laptop or computer or charging from there. There isn’t a car charger in the box so we’ll have to pick that up on our next trip back to Walmart.
I just installed the sims card which came in the starter kit and the battery. I’m currently charging the phone. I can’t wait to use it and to show hubby how it works. I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally be able to have a phone I don’t have to share. Hubby’s going to be so excited to have a phone that he doesn’t have to borrow. We’ll be able to check our phone usage and manage our account online and find more information at https://www.myfamilymobile.com/
I’ll be sharing my thoughts on usage, service and phone capabilities in a post next month so be sure to stop back for an update.
