We’ve been on the Take Shape for life with Medifast for 17 weeks and we’ve had success so far and loved sharing our journey. We both have finally reached the goals that we set for ourselves back in April. Take shape for Life is providing Medifast meals for us both along with a Life Coach for free to help us on our journey to Optimal Health and weight-loss. It really makes us both feel good that we’ve come so far and we have Take Shape for Life to thank.
Back when we first started I recall always saying how much I really wanted to put my mind into eating healthier and losing weight. When other’s told me what I had to do to get there and gave me suggestions like exercising, eating off a smaller plate, add more fruit and vegetables, stop eating bread, rice, potatoes it all sounded so easy but when it came time to implement it I was lazy. That’s the honest to God Truth. I mean really? Give up potatoes and bread? What are they nuts? I love french fries. I love baked potatoes with butter and sour cream and oh I love me a piece a Garlic bread with Spaghetti. Wait. Make that 2 pieces. One thing that I needed to face is that eating the things I love got me to where I was at 156 lbs. We all have vice’s that we love but the truth is if we want to lose weight continuing on the path with the food we love won’t get us there. Making changes to your diet will.

Me: I finally had an appointment to get in to see my endocrinologist last week. Lately I’ve been extremely exhausted to the point where I can barely get through my day. She offered to do a full profile of blood tests to see if we can find out what’s going on. After the test results came in I was informed that my Iron levels are very low and I am now Anemic. Now I’ve always been borderline but right now my levels are at a 9 and I should be over a 12. So she told me that I need to get a General practitioner immediately. Good news is that she didn’t say anything about my thyroid being off or my cholesterol levels being bad. So that’s a good thing. I’m remaining on the plan but tapering off to include three regular day meals and two Medifast meals since I have reached my goal and am satisfied with my weight. At this point I’m looking to maintain as well as to tighten’ and tone.
Hubby: 184! I thought I’d never see that on the scale. When I started this journey I never thought I’d make it under 200 lbs but just look at me. Accomplishing this major goal is huge for me. I’m still enjoying and following the 5 and 1 plan and looking forward to my weigh in’s every week. Each weeks provides more incentive to keep going. I have been going to the gym and exercising regularly and this has become a lifestyle for me rather than just something that helps me lose weight right now.
Funny how now that I’ve lost so much weight how guys want to bring in Dunkin Donuts to work and say that having 1 doughnut won’t hurt. What they don’t realize is I don’t even want the doughnut. It’s not worth it to me to set my self back three days and wait to get back into fat burning zone. I’m doing fine right where I am. It’s not easy to say no but it is getting easier. It becomes a choice and I chose to not to eat it. I’ve had my fair share of donuts in the past and look where it got me. To 222 lbs. NO Thanks. I’m done with being unhealthy and feeling like awful every day. I love having lots of energy and looking and feeling good.
We’re on a journey to better health and you can be too.
