Our lives get busy and we don’t always remember the little important things like changing the batteries in the smoke alarm. This one tiny little movement can save the lives of your family and and possibly the family living right next store. I’ve been in a fire before. I lost just about everything we owned. Not because we didn’t change the smoke alarm battery but because of someone’s careless thoughts in a building of 24 unit apartments. I would shutter at the thought if we didn’t have working Smoke alarms in that building. It could of been much worse than what it was.
Change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when you set your clocks back – it could help save a life.
It’s that time of year when Energizer, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and fire departments nationwide join forces for the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery® program to raise awareness of the importance of working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors in helping to keep families safe in their homes. This is the 26th year for the annual program and the message is still an important one that should reach every household in America.
Did you know, thirty-eight percent of fatal fire injuries occur in homes with no smoke alarms, while 24 percent occur in homes in which at least one smoke alarm is present but fails to operate, frequently due to dead or missing batteries.*
For 26 years, the Change Your Clock Change Your Battery program has been dedicated to sharing the important reminder to replace the batteries in your home’s smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when you change your clocks for daylight saving time.
