Saying Good-Bye to Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus
Ringling Brothers Circus to Closing after 146 years. I was so very sad to hear that Ringling Bros. Has decided not to continue to entertain the public and is closing up after changing up their show and providing the greatest show on Earth. We’ve attending the show over the last couple of years and really enjoyed the changes.
Yesterday I read on Abc7Chicago.com Ringling Bros. Circus closing after 146 years. The shocking news saddened me and the kids. In light of this news I wanted to share our last visit to the Circus in Chicago show just this past November 2016.
The 2014 Ringling Bros. Circus show was probably the Greats Show on Earth we’ve ever seen. They had a Pegasus, the Elephants and added in a lot of acrobatic entertainment. Perhaps if they took a poll about what people really loved about the Circus instead of trying to change so much of it they would of gained more insight to what people really wanted to see.
This years so had a Outerspace theme to it. Added a little different twist on our experience from previous years.
Ariel acrobatics. Breathe taking tricks and beautiful chirography. A beautiful edition to the show. Knowing that the circus has become much more than animal tricks and added in beautiful talent from people is just a really amazing edition for the show.
A real live band is something I don’t recall them having in previous years. It really brought an extra umf to the show.
Motorcycle tricks and ice skaters performing. There really is no other place to see anything like this. The fact that Ringling bros brought amazing talent such as this to their show it’s really sad to see them go.
The high flying acrobats swinging back and forth catching eachother and flipping to catch the next ring was great to see. I remember holding my breathe when I saw the guy flip and not able to catch the hands of the guy hanging there. He landed in the net below and my son turned to me saying, “Did you see that Mommy? He missed him. Good thing the net caught him.” And I said, “Yes, sometimes that can happen. That’s why they always use safety equipment as back up just in case.”
There’s a point in the show where they bring out several of the acts and it’s just great to see. Everyone making a trip around the ring waving to the crowd. It really gets every one excited.
This large spinning wheel with real people doing this amazing tricks is really great to see. I love to see them perform.
The Lion and Tigers show was my son’s favorite and one of the longest parts of the show. He was super excited to see them do tricks. When the Lions started roaring his face just lit up.
The stilt skaters were really great. Can you just imagine skating on Stilts! My boys wanted to know how they learned to do that. The light show that came with the show was pretty cool too but some what distracting from everything that is going on. There’s so much going on on the ice and above the ice you almost don’t know where to look cause you don’t want to miss anything.
My boys were 8 and 10 when I took them to this show. They both just loved all of the entertainment the Circus provided. My son really loved the hat and Cotton Candy we purchased during the intermission. Unfortunately he forgot his hat in the seat when we left and cried the whole way home.
Thank you so much Ringing Bros. Barnum Bailey & Bailey Circus for all the amazing acts and entertainment that you have provided me and my family with over the years. I really wish that you had informed the public of the last showing in Chicago and around the world so that we could of made sure that the whole family had attended a show together. Sadly my husband and daughter missed this show. From young to old we’ll have stories to share and thankfully I’ll have these photos and a few video’s and fond memories of past performances we’ve attended together to share with them as they grow up. It’s sad to hear of your closing and I wish you all good luck in the future.
What’s your fondest memory of attending the Circus?
