Netflix Original ATypical Heartfelt Comedy with an Autism Spectrum View

I’ve mentioned it before I absolutely love watching Netflix Original movies and series. Netflix ATypical is honestly one of the most refreshing, honest, and down to earth sitcom’s that will have you wanting more and more. ATypical is a heartfelt comedy’s with a autism spectrum view. It’s about a 18 yr old boy named Sam who is on the autism spectrum. He’s going through the aches and pains of growing up and surviving his teenage years while dealing with his true honesty and wanting to start dating.

He faces so many issues that typical teenagers face including awkwardness, an annoying sibling, and making hard decisions. He tries to find out how to approach girls and start dating but he looks for all of his ideas on youtube which he honestly doesn’t find the best advice there. And watching others in his high school to see how they hit on girls and taking notes isn’t going to get him that forever love either. It only results in awkward moments, laughter, and sometimes genuinely funny responses, too.  You’ll find yourself laughing out loud.

He has a love for Penguins but uses his knowledge so often to fill in conversation you can’t help but find it funny.

The whole family together is really a riot. Just watch this trailer and you’ll see what I mean.

All the while your watching your wondering if he’s going to get a girlfriend and how that’s going to work out. Like any relationship you know there’s adventures, and difficulties and it’s no different with someone on the autism spectrum.
His parents are dealing with their own issues including trying to find themselves with the new found freedom of their son seeking more independence and dealing with past issues of one partner leaving and adultery but I can’t share too much about that cause I don’t want to spoil it.

His Dad is seeking a better understanding of his son and wishes to be closer to him and spend more time talking and sharing what he knows about life. With Sam starting in the dating scene he may just get his chance for sharing advice and meeting women but basing it on his experiences of the past may not be such a good idea.

His sister is some what protective but treats him like sisters usually do treat brothers. She finds her owns worth in being there for her brother and when faced with an opportunity to be able to get go to a really prestigious school she is faced with conflict and not wanting to leave her brother alone.

This series will give you a little bit of insight on what family life is like with someone on the Autism spectrum. Things they experience and situations that arise and well as incidents they have to over come.

Now what kind of person would I be if I shared all the details about ATypical. I’m seriously telling everyone I know just how much I love this Netflix Original and a little know secret was I was given a sneak peak into a few episodes in March at our Netflix Streamteam meet up and oh my gosh I was bursting at the seems to see more and tell everyone that this series was coming out.

If your a Netflix subscriber you have to see all 8 episode’s. I am praying that Season 2 of Netflix ATypical will be announced soon. It’s getting really great reviews which is another reason why I think it’s certainly a huge possibility. I can’t wait to see where they take this series especially with open questions I have after episode 8.

There were so many great shows added in August and even more coming to Netflix in September!!
