NASCAR HEAT 2 with Camping World Truck, Xfinity, and Monster Energy Series Racing Action Review
disclosure: we were provided with a code to download the game to test out and provide feedback for our readers. Thoughts are 100% our own and honest opinion.
It’s not a Secret that my family is full of Nascar Fans and when I was asked to review NASCAR HEAT 2 there was no hesitation my boys were ready. My son was super excited and since we already owned other Nascar XBOX games like NASCAR Heat Evolution this was his chance to see what new changes were implemented and if this game was going to offer him game play that would allow him to kick his dad’s butt on the track.
Featuring all 3 NASCAR national series – Camping World Truck, XFINITY, and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series – NASCAR Heat 2 also includes new tracks specific to these series like the dirt track at Eldora (trucks) and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (XFINITY). In addition, developer Monster Games, has completely rebuilt the career mode so you will work your way up to the top over multiple seasons, dealing with rivals and capitalizing on momentum along the way. You can also jump right into the action with quick race, championship (go right to the playoffs), challenges, split-screen 2 player racing and online multiplayer with up to 40 racers.
- 3 NASCAR National Series–For the first time in nearly a decade, all 3 NASCAR national series are available to play. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series™, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series™ and NASCAR XFINITY Series™ each offer unique gameplay, drivers, vehicles and tracks. Sign with real race teams and win with the most famous rides in NASCAR.
- Supercharged Online Multiplayer–For the first time in a NASCAR game, players can fill the field in online multiplayer with AI cars. The new NASCAR race format, combined with rolling seasons and leaderboards, delivers a new level of authenticity in competitive play.
- Old-school Couch Co-op –NASCAR Heat 2 brings back the fun of head-to-head racing with two-person local multiplayer.
My son is 12 years old and he’s been testing out Nascar Heat 2 on XBOX One with a game download code provided to us by the sponsor. Here are his thoughts:
Nascar Heat 2 has way better graphics than Nascar Heat evolution. This upgrade makes the game more enjoyable to play. My favorite part of this game is the Career mode. During Career mode you can pick one of the three series to drive in. I usually pick the Camping World Truck Series mode to drive in. I pick the truck series because it’s different, unique, and more challenging than the other two series. In Career mode you start as a hot seat driver, so other teams can select you and ask you to race for them. After each race you get points that go towards play-offs.
The camera angle is really cool too. During the race you can switch back and forth between 1st person (your view- inside through the window), and Third person (camera is behind the car), lastly view from hood of car forward and track. My favorite camera view is the view from the hood and past the hood. It’s easier to draft and avoid wrecking.
Everything in this game as far as drivers, and a car matches up with real life. I love that because my favorite drivers are in the game and being one of my favorite drivers driving in a race in super cool.
Another thing that I like with Nascar Heat 2 is the game allows you to pick the paint job on the car you drive. My favorite is Austin Dillon. He’s one of my favorite drivers.
In Career mode after a race you might get various comments from other drivers. Some nice and some not so nice. But I always laugh at the not so nice. There’s a twitter feed pops up on the screen to share thoughts from other drivers. For instance Jamie McMurry called me a dirty driver after I accidentally wrecked him at a race at Sonoma. I play to win… I don’t know about dirty.
One thing that I’ve always liked about the Nascar games is the multiplayer mode. I like multiplayer mode with XBOX LIVE because you can play against players all over the world. I like the multiplayer, because it’s more of a challenge instead of racing against the computer.
The Computer mode on Nascar Heat is more challenging than previous Nascar games and that’s good. It makes it a lot more fun to play and drive. Nascar Heat 2 is my favorite Nascar driving game to date. I definitely recommend it.
