Before I share details on Episode 1 & 2 I want to share our Q&A with Chris Harrison who is the Host of the popular show “The Bachelor”. With a great smile and an adorable disposition Chris was really excited to sit down with 25 of us and answer some of our most pressing questions about The Bachelor and “The Bachelor Winter Games”. He really wished he was able to sit and watch the sneak peak with us and see our reaction. He says that is what gets him so excited about the show and sharing it with the public.
The exciting part of our interview with Chris Harrison was being able to witness his genuine excitement for the show and telling us what he loves about it. He says they have been doing Bachelor and Bachelorette for about 16 years, “it’s my baby”, and after 16 yrs it’s fun to come up with this new concept of The Bachelor Winter Games.
So Chris says that They wanted to “make this Global Celebration of Love.” Define that and figure out what that means and what they figured out was, The Bachelor is a phenomenon in the United States and it’s one of the biggest franchises in the history of TV, and it has been for almost 2 decades. Did you know that there are franchises of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” around the world from Japan, China, Finland, Sweden, Russia, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. They decided it would be this “pseudo Olympic Village where we’re gonna get the biggest Stars from around the world join the biggest Stars from our Show, bring them together, let them live in one house, let the mayhem ensue.”
Doesn’t that sound super exciting? It is! I absolutly love this concept and from what I can tell there’s some really great people that stand out in this show and not only do they make it interesting and exciting you can’t wait to see more and want to know if they find love. After watching the first episode I already have a few favorites. Some make me laugh and well some are just plain annoying but annoying in a good laughable kind of way. There’s a few that are super cute and you’re like awwww. She’s adorable. Like this one Bachelorette YUKI who is also one of Chris’s Favorites and he shares why.
You’ll all be excited to meet Yuki Kimura. She is one of Chris Harrison’s favorites and he raved about how well liked she was and why. Yuki first appeared on Bachelor in Japan. Although she didn’t find love they didn’t bring her back for the next show because she was “too big of a star”. When they called her out for The Bachelor Winter Games they found out why. He said they were “all mesmerized by her. I just wanna see Yuki talk for days. And so she was just fascinating. She was incredibly sweet and yes, we had a Translator. My guess I would say, over under, it was probably 15 to 20 words that she legitimately knew in English and then we had a Japanese Translator who helped us and helped Yuki because I would go in and say whatever it is that I needed to say, then somebody had to tell her what I just said because, you know, there were rules to what we were doing.” He was super excited to of had a conversation with her during those 4 shows and I do believe we’ll get to see it as well as (spoiler) Chris Speaking Japanese. Which he was super proud of especially since he’s from Texas.

This is Yuki. She is beautiful. She’s has this cute little voice and the fact that she doesn’t have such good English and smiles and nods alot is just so adorable. You just want to take her under I love the fact that she’s is on the show and she finds someone to connect with.
The Bachelor or The Bachelor Winter Games?
When asked what Chris Harrison prefers “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelor Winter Games” his response was “Bachelor Winter Games may be some of my favorite television we have ever produced! It was fun for us to be just really producing on the fly, coming up with great ideas and you see this stuff work and the concept works.”
“It’s changed my life on many levels so that’ll always be my favorite but this was really fun and I haven’t had this much fun in a long time.”
REAL TALK with Chris Harrison
I think if you’ll get to know me, you’ll know that I guess I’m the same guy that’s on The Bachelor. That’s how I live my life. That’s how I host Shows and that’s how I treat the people on the Show. I treat them with love, respect, dignity until you cross me and then I’ll end you. (laughable moment) They’re like my Children. I tell my Children this in all sincerity, it’s like ‘don’t confuse me for one of your friends. I’m not your friend I’m your Father”.
Will he ever be a participant on “The Bachelor”? You know we had to ask- cause he’s is FINE!!
In all seriousness, obviously people ask that a lot. I believe in the show and I believe in Love and I had a wonderful Marriage for many years and I have two great kids. I have this infinite amount of time with them before they’re off to College and I produced this show for so long to be all of a sudden a contestant on it, I guess we’d call it really weird. It doesn’t make sense to me because I produce and when I’m hosting, I’m even producing and to be sitting on a date and thinking… A. I know everyone in the room because I’ve worked with these people and raised them 15, 20 years and then on top of that, I’m worried about the lighting, and if we’re getting good content and where the scene’s going, and how do we end it. And I’m like, this is not a good way to find love (for him).
Do they ever step in and stop something that is happening on the show?
We’re creating great TV and that’s how you know and if everybody’s kind of chatting and not really paying attention to what’s going on, it’s not interesting. It’s human nature to want to fix a situation. If you and I or the 3 of us are talking and there is something emotional going on or something difficult or awkward or whatever, our human instinct is to step in to fix that and speak. It’s hard and I think one of my gifts as a host and as I’ve learned over the years, one of the hardest things I do is not speak, and not jump in.
And that’s a hard thing to do especially on television because everyone has this need to fill dead space because dead space is awkward but sometimes, it’s really needed and because that person wants to speak or they want to emote some emotional whatever it is, and you need to allow that to happen and if you fix it, then they can just bury it or move on. So it’s hard so the toughest things for me, those horribly awkward situations or somebody’s really breaking down is not to fix it
Medical Background checks for the Show Participants?
Everybody goes through very stringent tests of all kinds. Believe it or not, Mental as well. No one is every under contract to kiss anyone or do anything they do not want to do.
The whole mental background check may come into question but hey this is great television and I love it.
The Premiere Episode Highlights an Appearance From Bachelor Nation Alumni Trista and Ryan Sutter and a Performance by Country Singer/Songwriter Ruthie Collins.
“Episode 101” – Baby, it’s cold outside when 25 bachelors and bachelorettes from around the world meet in the streets of Manchester, Vermont, for a grand celebration of unity and love on the premiere of the new highly anticipated four-episode series, “The Bachelor Winter Games,” beginning TUESDAY, FEB. 13 (8:00-10:00 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.
Chris Harrison hosts with ESPN SportsCenter anchor and sports journalist Hannah Storm and KABC-TV sports anchor and correspondent Ashley Brewer there to help report on all of the exciting action. Bachelor royalty Trista and Ryan Sutter make a special appearance, serving as grand marshals to kick off the festivities. Following a featured performance by up-and-coming country music sensation Ruthie Collins, the singles move into their Bachelor villa at The Hermitage Club at Haystack Mountain in Wilmington, Vermont, and the games of love begin.
Back at the Bachelor villa, Chris Harrison reveals that the winter challenges will begin with a biathlon the next morning. Only the male and female winners will be awarded a date card and the opportunity to ask a potential love interest on a romantic escapade. With suitors searching for love from international versions of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” franchises, chemistry quickly heats up across borders, with an American man sharing a passionate kiss with a woman from New Zealand before the first night is over. The immediate connections among the group make the next day’s inaugural challenge as intense as ever. With Hannah Storm and Ashley Brewer there to help cover the day’s activities, a particularly entertaining biathlon takes place, ending with two lucky winners skiing off with a date card and a decision to make.
One winner makes a difficult choice, leading to a full-on meltdown from a Bachelor Nation fan favorite. While one couple heads to Wilmington, Vermont, for a night out on the town, another departs for a charming date where sparks fly as fireworks light up the sky. Later, at the first dramatic cocktail party, Chris Harrison delivers a bolt from the blue – five people will have to say goodbye at the end of the night, leaving alliances to be made and romance to be had if anyone wants a chance to stay in the game.
You’ll see competition like this and both the men and women compete.
“Episode 102” – In the next episode that airs THURSDAY, FEB. 15 (8:00–10:00 p.m. EST), romantic connections are well underway as the participants arrive at an ice rink for their second winter games challenge – speed skating. Chris Harrison and Hannah Storm are at the anchor desk with Ashley Brewer on the sidelines to recap the qualifying rounds where some stumble, some speed and some trudge to the finish line. After a surprising twist, two unexpected skaters win a coveted date card. One winner and his lady of choice go on an adventurous tubing date where concerns are brought up that lead to a relationship-defining conversation. Another couple takes a picturesque horse-drawn carriage ride and establishes a deep bond in a woodburning hot tub. One bachelor ends a short-lived courtship for another lady; but everyone knows that in Bachelor world when one door closes, another is always ready to be opened, especially when Jordan from New Zealand finally shows up to the villa. At the rose ceremony, the remaining participants have no idea what to expect until Chris Harrison makes an important announcement that sends some people scrambling in order to avoid being sent home.
And yes there’s a ROSE Ceremony! Sneak Peak right here 😉
My favorite part about “The Bachelor Winter Games” is the fun concept for competition that they came up with. In order to go out on a date with your choice you had to win the competition. Games such as Skiing – when some don’t know how to ski and they are struggling trying to figure that out (so funny). Then there’s the Target paintball shooting some are good and some struggle. The comments that they make about their own skills are great. I’m excited to watch it and I hope you’ll tune in and watch it too.Do you have a favorite cast member from a previous season?
