Letitia Wright as “Shuri” Her Brothers Keeper & Daniel Kaluuya as “W’Kabi” His Nations Security

After seeing Marvel’s Black Panther I really looked forward to meeting the cast. Daniel Kaluuya & Letitia Wright were the first two actors on from Marvel Black Panther we had the opportunity to Interview. We were all really excited to meet them both and to see what their thoughts were on the film and their roles in the Black Panther. The magic between them and the respect, admiration and Love that they had for eachother as people and actors was obvious. They just had this charisma together.

I was super excited to meet Letitia Wright especially because of her role as her brother’s keeper and some really cool gadgets that she used in the film. She’s a really young actress and so enthusiastic for her role and the impact that her character and this film will have on everyone that will see it.

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life. “Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, with Angela Bassett, with Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis.               The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Ryan Coogler & Joe Robert Cole wrote the screenplay.  Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” hits U.S. theaters on February 16, 2018.

Letitia really loved the outfits that she wore in the film. She really didn’t like dresses to begin with so when they fitted her for dresses she really liked them, she liked the way the whole cast looked.

Just look at the two outfits below. I love the color and the strong lines and the over all look and fit of the outfits. I can see why she liked them, too. Your going to be blown away by a lot of the looks in this film. They are so unique to Waconda style and feel which gives life to this film.

Letitia on Hairstyles for Black Panther

She never had braids prior to the film. Before deciding on what hair style she’d wear for the scene the hair stylist Nikki would want to see what outfit she’d wear that day for the scene before deciding on a hair style. On the first day she actually wore her hair into 2 separate braids just for fun. They went to show the hairstyle to Ryan (Coogler -the Director). He liked the outfit and he loved the hairstyle because it had a Princess Leia feel to it. So they went with it. Alot of the hairstyles were just created and they came up with really unique hair styles throughout the film for her. I’ll expect to see little girls every where wanting their hair just like that!

Preparing for fight scene’s: Training and fighting Style

Daniel Kaluuya as “W’Kabi” says they did a lot of sword training. Everyone had to have their own fighting style that reflected their character just like they all had different hair styles. They brought together all these African styles and did things completely creative and on the fly. The fights were created in the moment and they’d try different things to see what worked.

Can you find them on Social Media?

Letitia says that being from London they don’t get into social media. Letitia has a twitter account and an Instagram account but she’s not on it that much. She does post a few pictures from time to time so that people know its her and her account but they feel like they are really secretive and they take a long time to go online to see what people are talking about when they do work because they are from London.

Daniel said he even had a year of people trying to be him on Social Media. So keep that in mind.

The reason Letita says she’s not on Social media that much is because people “talk about you like your not you.” You won’t even find Daniel Kaluuya on social media and we don’t have an account for him. They laugh and say he’s like a ghost. Which then had us all laughing especially because each one of us are so active in social media and wanting to share it all. As bloggers social media is our life I simply can’t understand why everyone wouldn’t be on it. It’s a connection to the world and he connects through the movies that he does not through social media.

Now after doing Black Panther they feel like it’s going to be a lot harder to hide from Social Media. I imagine they are right.

We even witnessed how close they were with their relationship and meeting up after movies and she’d ask him where he was after not seeing him for like 2 months to like 5 months and he was doing “Get Out” (Which is a great movie by the way. I love it.) Then they shared what they were doing next “Black Panther” and they were excited to be in the same movie together.

Brother Sister Relationship: Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa) and Letitia Wright(Shuri)

Letitia says, ‘The writing was so good and the humor in the film is about honest and love for your brother. Just trying to tell the truth with playfulness. It’s the best kind of comedy.. in this relationship.’

Every scene with Letitia Wright and Chadwick Bosemen (Sister and Brother in the film) with their exchange of words and the scene’s that they did together really hit home for me. It reminded me a lot of the relationship that I have with my brother and in how I look out for him and guide him and educate him on things and life to better him as a person. Letitia Wright “Shuri” was this guide for her brother and so many times just the way she talked to him although it was a bit direct and was so honest and so “a matter of fact” and you have to laugh because it’s brotherly. sisterly love. They even have their own greeting handshake (you can see that in the trailer below).

You’ll just love her character and their relationship I know little girls will definitely look up to her not only because she is the princess of Waconda, but especially because of her role as being so tech savvy with gadgets and creating so many cool gadgets like the Black Panther suit and using the Uranium for cool effects that will help protect the her brother the King.
